7/25/99: I've been a John McTiernan fan since before I even knew what a director was. Predator and Die Hard were major stepping stones in my love of film. I still think those are his two best. The Hunt for Red October is a very well done movie, but since then he really hasn't hit the mark, although I'm one of the few that seems to enjoy Die Hard 3.

The Thomas Crown Affair is a step in a different direction for him. There is hardly any action in it. Well first off I've never seen the original, but I'm sure Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway exude all kinds of charm in it. That is what the remake is all about, charm.

"Pierce Brosnan steals a priceless Monet painting from a museum, and Rene Russo is trying to get it back. She's some kind of bounty hunter for an insurance company. But mostly it's all about the mind games the two leads play against each other.

"I'm secure enough in my sexuality to say that Brosnan is dead sexy, well he is Bond for a reason. Russo is also very hot in this film, and returns with more of that confident sexuality we saw in Lethal Weapon 3, I hardly noticed her in the 4th one. They are two very rich and cocky people, and are always positioning themselves for the upper hand. There are a couple of cool plot twists, but they only lead to you think why the whole deal took place. Is this what the ultra rich do to keep from getting bored?

"It is defiantly aimed towards the older audience. One of those sexual thrillers, that is also smart. Overall it was ok, it will probably play better on video. I hope that Eaters of the Dead, I mean The 13th Warrior, is a return to his kick ass action films."<%}%>
